Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has stated that Paris Saint-Germain is the best team his side has faced so far this season.

The Netherlands international made the remarks after Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 exit at the hands of PSG on Tuesday.

Van Dijk also congratulated Luis Enrique’s side for advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Congrats to PSG, they have been the best team we faced this season so far,” Van Dijk told Canal Plus.

“Credits to Luis Enrique, he built a very good squad.”

PSG eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League after a penalty shootout. Both legs ended in a 1-1 draw on aggregate, with Liverpool winning the first leg and PSG claiming victory in the return leg at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Liverpool will now focus on the Carabao Cup final, where they will face Premier League rivals Newcastle United this weekend.
