The All Progressive Congress, or APC, has declared that it will assume control of Abia State in 2027 and pledged to give the Abia people additional benefits of democracy.
At Abiriba Stadium in Abiriba, Ohafia LGA of Abia State, on Friday, Kingsley Ononogbu, the chairman of the APC in Abia, made this statement while welcoming Kelvin Jombo Onumah, a former high-profile PDP member who switched to the APC, and his followers.
The chairman of the Abia State APC stated that in order to secure seats in the state, in 2027 elections, his party will rely on the accomplishments of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the Senate, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu in the House of Representatives, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
He pointed out that his party is now more unified and ready to govern the State in 2027 after fixing every error that kept it from winning the State in the 2023 elections.
“We expect that if we take over Abia State in 2027, you will see more actions, verifiable actions,” he said.
Ononogbu, who gave Kelvin Jombo the APC flag, claimed that the former PDP member had made the right decision in joining the party.
Jombo, a new member of the APC, stated in his address that he joined the party to bring value to the APC and to encourage development for his people in the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal constituency and throughout Abia North.
At the ceremony, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu also spoke and reaffirmed his calls for Nigerians to have patience with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform initiatives, stating that the people of Nigeria will triumph over the current adversity and hunger in the nation.
Kalu claimed that his party was still the biggest in the nation and urged accurate coverage of the APC’s accomplishments.
However, in a statement released on Friday, Abraham Amah, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed that his party will still “bounce back to the amazement of naysayers and detractors.”
