Bolanta, a Nigerian content creator, reportedly offered a personal story from his time in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), explaining how family issues influenced his actions while he was serving in the South-East, according to a report by Nigeria Tribune. Bolanta claimed that prior to his departure for his major assigned location in Igboland, his mother gave him a severe warning.

Bolanta talked about the experience and revealed that his mother was quite concerned about his relationships and safety throughout the service year. He clarified that she gave him strong instructions because she was afraid of the tensions and preconceptions that were prevalent at the time.

According to him, “When I was going for NYSC in Igboland, my mother begged me not to talk to any girl. She was very serious about it and kept warning me to be careful and avoid anything that could put me in trouble.”

Bolanta said that even though the advise seemed harsh, he recognized that it was motivated by love and care.

He continued by saying that his NYSC experience ultimately proved to be serene and enlightening, assisting him in dispelling some preconceptions. According to Bolanta, the encounter made him realize how crucial it is to comprehend other cultures and prevent fear from undermining Nigerian unity and cohabitation.
