The son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, has publicly said that his father is unable to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s bid for president.
He replied to a user who hoped that Atiku and Governor Mohammed would work together to bring the PDP back to life in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @shamsudeen_bala.
According to Shamsudeen, Atiku weakened his father’s 2023 reelection bid by supporting the opposition and rallying powerful Bauchi leaders against him.
“Honestly, it would be difficult,” he wrote.
“Because even if he wins, there’s nothing he would do for us except settle old scores. He didn’t support us in 2023—he backed the APC candidate and used Bauchi elites to oppose us. We barely survived it. He’s made it clear he doesn’t value us enough to engage in dialogue.”
Prior to the upcoming election cycle, his remarks draw attention to persistent divisions within the PDP.
