Corporal Buba Adamu of the Nigeria Police was fired for not showing up to his new station in Kaduna, where he was sent from Cross River Command nine years ago.

The corporal was accused of operating illegally in the Cross River Command and promoting himself to the position of superintendent.

This revelation was made by the command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, on Thursday during a press conference in Calabar.

She said that following the transfer in 2015, Adamu had worked as a “mobile police officer” independently of oversight or reporting to a particular police command.

It was stated that the dismissed corporal was still getting paid even though he wasn’t showing up to his new station.

A few concerned residents of the Hausa-Fulani Nasarawa community in the Calabar municipality, who had purportedly suffered from Adamu’s illicit activities, exposed him.

When the community discovered that Adamu had been arrested and that the police command was being pressured to release him, they raised alarm.
