Olajumoke Olalere, a 33-year-old housewife, was ordered to be remanded to Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan by an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stabbing her husband to death.
Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, the Chief Magistrate, ordered the defendant to be remanded until the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) provided legal advice, rejecting her plea for lack of jurisdiction.
She then postponed the matter until March 5, 2025, so that it may be mentioned.
Olalere was charged with one count of murder by the police.
According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, the defendant killed her 39-year-old husband, Oluwasegun Tinubu, on October 30 at 9:00 p.m.
According to Akinloye, the defendant allegedly used a knife to stab her husband during a fight at their home, at Zone 5, Gbelu, Iyana – Agbala, Ibadan.
According to him, the offence was punished under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000 and violated Section 316.
