President Bola Tinubu broke his silence on the protracted political turmoil in Rivers State on Tuesday.
Tinubu disclosed that he had anticipated the issue during a meeting with the Pan Niger Delta Forum, or PANDEF, leaders in the State House’s Council Chamber in Abuja.
Given that the Supreme Court had already rendered a decision on the issue, he advised PANDEF to go back home and pursue peace in conformity with the law.
The president said that he had worked to promote peace in the state in a number of ways, both in private and in public.
Tinubu while noting the importance of obeying the rule of law stated: “I should not be here as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if there is no rule of law.
“I have total confidence in our judiciary. Human beings can make errors, but once the Supreme Court has spoken, that is it.”
Siminalayi Fubara, the state governor, promised on Tuesday to carry out all of the apex court’s decisions in order to guarantee that peace is restored in the state, according to ZINGTIE.
