According to Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the South-East’s cry of marginalisation is self-inflicted.
On the other hand, he pledged that the party wants to take over the states within the zone.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ganduje made the statement on Thursday while meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel, which is headed by Aminu Garko, the NUJ’s chairman.
He maintained that rather than being unified under a single political party, the five states in the South-East are governed by several political parties, which may be the cause of the Igbo people’s perceived marginalisation.
The former governor of Kano State declared his dedication to obtaining the majority of the South-East states.
“The South-East geopolitical zone is saying the same thing. But what we are telling them is that the marginalization has been created by them.
“How can you have five states ruled by four political parties? What will be your political bargain?
“Next year, there will be Anambra, which has been a state governed by APGA for many years, but we have introduced a new scheme.
“We want to start with Anambra. Already, we have Ebonyi and Imo. Now, we are encroaching into that zone to ensure that we capture most of the states. And if we get what we want, we capture all the states,” he said.
