18 Civil Servants, others rewarded for their Exemplary Service

The Federal Government and stakeholders honored 18 federal civil servants for their outstanding service during the 2025 Civil Service Awards night. Two federal ministries were also recognized for their exceptional work.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, praised the honorees, describing them as “quiet reformers” who have consistently demonstrated excellence, integrity, and dedication in service to the nation. “They show up on time, meet deadlines, write policies, fix systems, and still manage to maintain a smile,” the Head of Service said. “Tonight, we pause to acknowledge the busyness and say: we see you. We thank you. We honour you.”

The awards ceremony is a testament to the government’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding public servants who go above and beyond in their duties. The Head of Service also called for greater punctuality and discipline in the service, emphasizing that “resuming work by 8am is not just a rule; it is a culture we must reclaim and uphold.

The ceremony followed a successful International Civil Service Conference, which brought together over 5,000 delegates from around the world to exchange ideas and explore innovations in public sector management.

Awardees and Their Prizes:

– Dr. Bahijjatu Hadiza (Federal Ministry of Environment): SUV, award plaque, laptop, foreign short course, masterclass program, and award certificate

– Chukwudi Ekwenugo (Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy): SUV, N500,000, laptop, foreign short course, and more

– Other award winners: cash prizes ranging from N250,000 to N500,000, laptops, and houses

The event was a celebration of the dedication and resilience of Nigeria’s civil servants, who are the backbone of governance and national development.
