Flying Eagles defender Emmanuel Chukwu has stated that the team is focused on beginning their campaign at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with a win.
Aliyu Zubairu’s squad will face the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in their opening match at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo on Thursday (today).
Chukwu acknowledged the significance of the match, saying, “We understand the importance of this game as it is our first in the competition,” he told NFF TV.
He added, “Our coaches have prepared us thoroughly, guiding us on how to approach the match. We are aiming for three points, and we are confident we won’t disappoint the fans.”
The four teams that reach the semi-finals in Egypt will secure spots in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile later in the year.
Chukwu emphasized that the team’s primary goal is to qualify for the World Cup. “As the coach mentioned, our first objective is to secure the World Cup ticket, and then we can focus on winning the trophy,” he said.
