2027: Group blasts northern political elites plotting against Tinubu

According to the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), there is a scheme underway among some northern political elites to stop President Bola Tinubu from running for reelection in 2027.

The forum also said that attempts are being made to accomplish the goal in 2027 through the continuous disturbances and agitations in the North.

Yerima Shettima, the President General of AYCF, asserted that the plan entails placing unreasonably high demands on the Tinubu administration in an effort to undermine it and turn the public against it.

He said, “The campaign of vilification and destabilisation is part of a broader strategy to weaken Tinubu’s support base in the North, with minister of state defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, being the primary target.”

He claims that the ongoing attacks on important associates of Tinubu are a part of a larger plot to topple the administration and obstruct his chances of winning reelection for a second term in 2027.

The AYCF lamented the move and saw it as a desperate attempt by those in positions of authority to stop the administration’s advancement and undo its anti-corruption initiatives.

He added, “The AYCF views these actions as a calculated attempt to dismantle the President’s support network and thwart his chances of securing a second term in office.”

The AYCF cautioned against the purposeful spread of false narratives and the use of obscure groups to undermine the President’s allies and damage his reputation, characterising the anti-Tinubu forces’ actions as too early.

Therefore, the AYCF urged President Tinubu and his team to stay watchful and unwavering in their dedication to the progress of the country, warning the President to be cautious of the propaganda campaigns being mounted against his administration and to remain focused on keeping his word to the Nigerian people.

“It is imperative for the government to stay focused on its goals, remain resilient in the face of these challenges, and work towards ensuring a stable and prosperous future for Nigeria. The administration must anticipate and counteract these moves in order to safeguard the progress and development of the nation,” he advised.

The AYCF declared that it is absurd for any group to evaluate and condemn an administration that is only a year old based on a ridiculous set of criteria of judgement and unreasonable expectations.
