Six politicians announced their intentions to run for governor on stage at a ceremony in Yola, Adamawa State, in the first of these public announcements ahead of elections.
In order to bridge the holes in the state’s governance, the candidates took advantage of the Gongola People’s Forum’s (GPF) inauguration of the Council of Elders.
Sen. Ishaku Abbo, Mr. Denis Habila Gapsiso, Dr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa, Mr. Yuguda Garba, Dr. Musa Maigana, and Mr. Kube Dwana were among the candidates who spoke out and shared their vision for Adamawa State.
Ishaku Abbo, the most well-known of the six and the senator for Adamawa Central Zone from 2019 to 2023, stated that he is motivated by a sense of dedication to fill gaps in governance.
The candidates claimed in their individual speeches that they were prepared to tackle the numerous issues facing the state at the moment.
The Gongola People’s Forum, which was established last year to bring together the minority ethnic groups mostly in Old Gongola State, especially the region that is now known as Adamawa State, has been gaining popularity among its sizable membership, according to ZINGTIE.
It’s unclear at this point if the forum will attempt to support any of the known candidates and others to run or let everyone play to their strengths at the polls.
Other GPF members who were not present at the GPF meeting include Chief Maurice Vunobolki, Wafari Theman, Caleb Andrew Myebangara, and Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Hong, who are reportedly just as interested in the Adamawa guber race.
