2027: Tensions Rise as Presidency Reveals Explosive Allegation Babachir Lawal said Against Atiku

The Presidency has reacted with concern to recent comments made against the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Babachir, while announcing his resignation from the ADC on Monday, accused Atiku of political manipulation, alleging that the outcome of the party’s recently concluded primary election had already been arranged in favour of the former vice president.

He claimed that the primary elections conducted at different levels were “massively rigged to favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku”.

According to him, the results of the exercise were “just written or rewritten to favour him and his coven”.

Reacting to the allegations, Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala, in a post shared on his official X handle, said the claims made by the former SGF, “said about the candidate of ADC, if verified is scary and will undermine the national security of Nigeria”.

Bwala further stated that the alleged plans by opposition figures seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election had now been exposed, insisting that the President remains the strongest option ahead of the poll.

According to him, over the last few months, “these people were talking about how they were made from heaven as one indivisible and indisoluble coalition sent by God to come and rescue Nigeria; and alas all their intentions and plans have been exposed”.

He added that the allegations trailing some opposition figures have made the 2027 choice clearer for Nigerians.

The presidential aide maintained that “choice for 2027 has never been more clearer. President Tinubu in all honesty is a million miles ahead of them”.
