When choosing its presidential candidate in 2027, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has stated that it will aim for unity.

However, ADC stated that if candidates for the party’s presidential ticket are unable to reach an agreement, it will choose to hold a competitive primary contest.

During his guest appearance on Arise Television on Thursday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, explained the party’s stance.

He stated that members’ early presidential pronouncements and zoning arguments would not divert the party.

Building strong structures across the country is the ADC’s top objective, Abdullahi said, emphasizing that being a leader means understanding what to do and when to do it.

“Atiku says he will run, Obi says he will run, Amaechi says he will run, that does not stop anyone else. What we are committed to is a level playing ground. We will pursue consensus, and if that fails, we will hold competitive primaries.

“For us, our focus now is building a fighting structure, not rushing into zoning conversations,” Abdullahi added.
