In Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has blasted Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, calling his recent political actions inconsistent, illogical, and lacking in direction.

In a statement released Thursday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, claimed that Obi’s political clout is waning and that the Labour Party, on which he ran in 2023, has become disjointed and lacking in direction.

The statement said, “In 2023, Mr. Obi emerged as a digital-era phenomenon, buoyed by youthful frustration and social media fervour. He campaigned on the promise of a new political order—one that would challenge the status quo and deliver a ‘New Nigeria.’

“Today, however, we must ask: Whither Peter Obi? Is he now politically stranded or ideologically orphaned?”

Oladejo claims that Obi’s recent affiliation with the African Democratic Congress, or ADC, which has been referred to as a “still-born coalition,” only serves to highlight his status as a politician who is more motivated by ambition than philosophy.

“Indeed, Mr. Obi may now be reaping the bitter fruits of political prostitution. Having, at different times, been in bed with the PDP, seduced the Labour Party, and now romanced the hollow structure of the ADC, he has left behind a trail of alliances formed not on principle but on convenience,” he added.

The once-vibrant “Obidient” movement was also dismissed by the APC, which said it had died out without any organization or long-term influence.

The party, on the other hand, commended its own performance and maintained that, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC is providing practical government that is centered on national unity, policy changes, and economic revival.

“As we look to 2027, the question is no longer whether Peter Obi will contest. The real question is: does he have a home to contest from? Or has he finally become what many feared—a political drifter, orphaned by the very movement he failed to consolidate,” he asked.
