2027: You’ll struggle to get 2% votes in FCT – APC tells Tinubu

If President Bola Tinubu is unable to stop Minister Nyesom Wike from dismantling the party, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, claims that he will find it challenging to secure two per cent of the vote in the capital during the 2027 presidential election.

At a press conference in Abuja, the party leaders made this declaration and bemoaned Wike’s recent appointments that seemed to ignore APC members.

They further stated that if the current state of affairs persists, the party might not win the next Area Council election. They said that the Minister’s disrespect for the party and its leadership is causing the APC in the Federal Capital to lose its political structure.

The APC chieftains, led by Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide, the convener, and David Omobolaji Obaje, the co-convener, stated that the Minister has not sat with the party leadership since taking office, despite the party writing him multiple letters requesting an audience, all to no avail.

ZINGTIE recalls that President Tinubu, the leader of the APC, selected Wike, a PDP member, as FCT minister.

However, Ekekhide stated that the whole APC family in the Federal Capital Territory, including the leaders, condemn “in very strong terms the continuous lopsided appointments, abandonment and total disregard for the APC in FCT by the minister.”

“We call on Mr President, who is the Governor-General, to call the Minister to order so that he can retrace his steps and start empowering the party or else, the party will struggle to get 2% for the President in the 2027 Presidential election and may lose the next Area Councils election if the situation remains this way.

“As we all know, the President is the Governor-General of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) but delegates his powers to a Minister, and today Barr. Nyesom Wike is standing in for the President as Hon. Minister of the FCT,” he added.
