The Youth Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has rejected reports that Governor Dauda Lawal is trying to align with President Bola Tinubu, labeling the move as political opportunism.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Musa Adams, the forum’s chairman, criticized the governor for a divisive approach to governance that has weakened unity within the state.
Adams claimed that Lawal, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been seeking favor with the APC by inviting its leaders to official events, a gesture the forum described as insincere.
“Zamfara APC remains strong and poised to deliver Asiwaju again in 2027, Insha Allah,” he said.
He further accused the governor of neglecting rural communities suffering from insecurity and poverty, while showing hostility toward APC members, particularly following the appointment of former Governor Bello Matawalle as Minister of State for Defence.
“We do not support Dauda Lawal’s involvement with the APC or President Tinubu’s campaign,” Adams added.
According to Daily Post, the APC currently holds two of Zamfara’s three Senate seats and five of its seven House of Representatives seats.
While calling for federal assistance to address the state’s problems, the youth forum insisted that the APC’s success does not depend on Governor Lawal’s backing.
