Zamfara APC dismisses crisis claims, makes heavy accussation against Shinkafi, Marafa

The All Progressives Congress, or APC, chapter in Zamfara State has denied rumors of an internal party crisis, accusing former senator Kabiru Marafa and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi of trying to sow discord and garner publicity.

The APC in Zamfara is still unified under the leadership of important individuals like Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defense, according to a statement released on Saturday by the party’s publicity secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau.

He characterized Marafa and Shinkafi as “disgruntled elements” who are attempting to discredit the party for their own motives.

Shinkafi had previously warned that the crisis may harm the party’s chances in 2027 and urged President Bola Tinubu and the APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda to step in and address what he termed as growing divides within the Zamfara chapter.

However, Gusau rejected his remarks, claiming that Shinkafi betrayed Matawalle even though he had previously benefited politically from him. Additionally, he charged that Marafa had left the party after not being able to get appointments.

Citing its recent victory in the Kaura-Namoda South State Assembly by-election as evidence of its strength, the party insisted that it is still unified.

According to Gusau, Matawalle, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima, and former governor Mamuda Shinkafi worked together to bring the APC together.

Ahead of the 2027 elections, he said, the party would keep bolstering its internal unity.
