Wade into Zamfara’s deepening crisis before APC boils over – Shinkafi tells Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda have been encouraged by Sani Shinkafi, a leader of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, in Zamfara State, to act immediately to address what he described as the growing rifts within the party in the state.

Ahead of the general elections in 2027, Shinkafi stated in a statement on Saturday that the APC’s unity was in danger due to growing disagreements among important stakeholders in the state.

The Tinubu–Shettima Presidential Campaign Council member issued a warning, saying the party runs the risk of making the same mistakes that cost it power in 2023 unless the leadership encourages communication and reconciliation.

He urged party leaders at all levels, including Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defense, to set aside personal grudges and try to bring the APC’s divided base together.

The leader of the party also cautioned that if internal conflicts and factionalism are not overcome, the opposition may win again.

“It is important for all leaders, including former governors and serving ministers, to come together and rebuild the APC in Zamfara.

“We need cooperation, not competition, if the party is to move forward.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand. We must stop the cycle of internal rivalry and focus on rebuilding trust among our members,” he said.
