The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully rescued a 19-year-old female student of Kogi State University, who had been abducted by ritualists.
The victim, identified as Fauziyah Muhammed, was a 400-level English Education student.
According to reports, Fauziyah was hypnotized in Kogi State and later abandoned in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State. She was found wandering naked in the Ajegunle-Isale community, and residents promptly handed her over to the NSCDC.
The NSCDC Commandant in Kwara, Dr. Umar Muhammed, stated that Fauziyah appeared disoriented and incoherent, suggesting that she had undergone traumatic experiences during her abduction. The command provided her with clothing and notified the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, about her situation.
Governor Abdulrazaq pledged to support the NSCDC with fuel to facilitate Fauziyah’s safe return to Kogi State.
During questioning, Fauziyah revealed that she had no recollection of how she arrived in Kwara State but remembered losing consciousness after picking up a book.
The NSCDC plans to release Fauziyah to her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who has been authorized by the family to take custody of her. In a separate incident, the NSCDC apprehended a minor, Abu Usman Soja, who allegedly collaborated with kidnappers operating in the Ajase-Ipo area.
The kidnappers had abducted a woman and her two children, demanding a ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N15 million. While the mother was released, the kidnappers remain at large with the children.
