Christian leaders from various denominations have united in calling for a firm stand against corruption, injustice, and a decline in spiritual commitment across the country.

The appeal was made through a communiqué issued during the 2025 Christian Citizenship Summit held on August 21 in Aba, Abia State. The leaders emphasized the need for moral accountability both within the Church and in the wider society.

The summit highlighted the importance of the Church taking an active role in national transformation, asserting that remaining silent amid moral and political collapse equates to being complicit.

Participants agreed to form Christian Citizenship coalitions across the country, introduce civic discipleship programs in both schools and churches, and equip believers for leadership positions in sectors such as politics, media, education, healthcare, and the economy.

They also encouraged partnerships with Nigerians in the diaspora to boost efforts toward rebuilding the nation and called on citizens to fully embrace their civic duties. At the same time, they urged the government to prioritize transparency and justice.

Pastor Emmanuel Ihim, the summit’s convener, challenged Christians to boldly confront societal corruption and moral failure.

In an earlier address, Governor Alex Otti represented by his Special Adviser on Religious Matters, K.C. Wiper encouraged Christians to take up their role as catalysts for positive societal transformation.
