In response to the Lakurawa terror organization terrorizing the people of Sokoto and Kebbi states, the Arewa Consultative Forum, or ACF, has called on the Nigerian military to intervene immediately.

The Forum called the rise of the new terrorist organization “dangerous and alarming,” saying that it signifies a worsening of the terrible insecurity in the North-West, which has turned into the epicenter of terrorism in Nigeria.

Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the organization’s national publicity secretary, stated in a statement that the rise of the Lakurawa terror gang in the Northwest is cause for grave alarm.

As with the Boko Haram insurgency, the Forum cautioned that the organization should not be played with in any way, tolerated, or given the opportunity to solidify.

It demanded that strategies and tactics be immediately, completely, and thoroughly reevaluated in order to eliminate any uncertainty regarding the nation’s determination to take decisive action against any threats to peace and stability that terror groups, regardless of their forms or descriptions, may consider.

The Forum states that the formation of the Lakurawa terrorist organization highlights the necessity of strengthening the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MJTF) agreement with neighbors, adding that the Niger Republic needs to be convinced to rejoin the effort.

“The visit to the Niger Republic earlier in the year by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, should be utilised as a fulcrum for renewed cross-border international efforts to deal with terrorists.

“The Federal Government, state and local authorities should also leverage on the close complex historic socio-cultural, economic and political ties with Nigeria’s neighbours with which to confront the mutual existential security threats that terror groups pose to all,” the statement read.
