The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has placed Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe on suspension following accusations that she physically assaulted a crew member during a film production.
It was reported that Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) while on set, leading to prompt disciplinary measures from the AGN.
In a communiqué sent to both its state chapter leaders and the national chairman, the Guild confirmed that Igwe’s suspension is indefinite as investigations into the matter continue.
The AGN stated that the suspension was due to “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.”
The statement further directed: “Members are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her.”
