A legal framework that would mandate that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deliver election results electronically in the general elections of 2027 has garnered support from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi stated in an Abuja speech on Monday that the party thinks electronic result transmission is essential to maintaining openness and safeguarding the integrity of voters’ choices.
“If a legal framework that compels INEC to electronically transmit results is what will strengthen transparency in our elections, then the ADC will fully support it,” Abdullahi stated.
He emphasized that the public must have faith that votes count and noted that legitimate elections are the cornerstone of democracy.
“Anything that guarantees that votes genuinely count is not just important but absolutely essential for the survival of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.
