The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has proposed a three-point strategy to rectify Nigeria’s security system.

The plan was announced by the party in response to the Global Terrorism Index that was released recently.

The report indicates that under President Bola Tinubu and the APC, terror attacks in Nigeria increased by 43 percent, from 120 incidents in 2024 to 171 in 2025.

Borno State was responsible for 67% of the assaults and 72% of the deaths connected to them, with civilians constituting 67% of the casualties.

In response to the situation, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, posted on his X account that the party would carry out decisive reforms to safeguard Nigerians.

He claims that the ADC is planning to enhance the coordination of intelligence.

“Nigeria does not lack intelligence; it lacks coordination,” he said.

He stated that the party is suggesting a legally required national intelligence coordination system, headed by a Coordinator of National Intelligence and a unified Joint Terrorism Task Force, to guarantee prompt responses and eradicate overlooked alerts.

Secondly, Abdullahi states that the ADC seeks to decentralize policing and bring security nearer to communities.

He clarified that the ADC would create a multi-tiered policing structure at federal, state, and local levels, defining clear roles and national standards to facilitate quicker responses and ensure accountability in all 774 local government areas.

Abdullahi ergänzte, dass die ADC beabsichtigt, von reaktiver Sicherheit zu präventiven Maßnahmen überzugehen.

He stated that the party’s strategy encompasses intelligence-driven early warning systems and rapid response units in each state to prevent attacks from happening.

“The ADC’s focus will be to prevent attacks, not just respond after tragedy strikes,” the ADC spokesman said.
