The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has suspended Jimi Lawal, who previously served as an aide to Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, due to purported involvement in anti-party activities.

This is evident in the party’s unveiling of a caretaker committee to manage its affairs until a state congress convenes.

This announcement was made by Femi Soluade, the party chairman in the state, in a statement on Saturday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Soluade characterized the development as part of a wider reorganization intended to bring stability back to the party.

“We have suspended Mr. Jimi Adebola Lawal and declared him a non-member of the party due to activities inconsistent with the principles and internal democratic framework of the ADC,” he said.

He claimed that Lawal tried to control party structures by systematically acquiring two local government structures and dismantling existing state and local leadership frameworks.

The state ADC chairman added that the local government structures in Ijebu Ode and Sagamu, which were reportedly impacted during the crisis, have now been returned to their original leadership in order to re-establish internal balance and inclusiveness.
