Kashim Shettima has declared that the Federal Government will not allow insurgents to undermine Nigeria’s peace or intimidate its citizens.

His statement follows the recent wave of insurgent attacks reported in parts of Borno State. Earlier, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had reached out to the state government and residents to express concern over the incidents.

Reports indicate that the attacks involved kidnappings in Ngoshe, as well as coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok.

In a statement posted on X by Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima strongly condemned the violence and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.

He further disclosed that the federal government has begun deploying additional tactical equipment and strengthening intelligence operations in the affected communities.

“The events of the past few days are painful, but we must choose hope over fear,” he said.

According to the Vice President, President Tinubu has already been fully briefed on the developments and has directed an immediate and comprehensive mobilisation of Nigeria’s security agencies.

“The Federal Government will not allow any place in Nigeria to become a safe haven for people who want to displace citizens or take over any part of our land,” the vice president said.

Shettima also assured citizens that those behind the attacks would be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.
