Rufai Oseni, a presenter on Arise Television’s Morning Show, has expressed sympathy for President Bola Tinubu following his performance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State.
Oseni rated Tinubu’s address at the event among the worst campaign speeches he had ever listened to, blaming the president’s aides for failing to adequately prepare him for his first campaign appearance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Oseni argued that Tinubu would have been better off avoiding the Kaduna campaign event if he was going to deliver such an embarrassing address.
“I think that was the worst campaign speech I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu.
“I think it was best he should not have even campaigned in Kaduna, because that was a terrible one for the eyes and for the ears,” he said.
The broadcaster criticised members of the president’s campaign council, accusing them of failing to prepare a brief and focused speech that would allow Tinubu to explain and defend his administration’s policies after almost four years in office.
Oseni argued that the president’s team should have put together a five-minute address highlighting the administration’s achievements and clarifying its policies to Nigerians.
He wondered why the campaign team permitted Tinubu to deliver what he considered an incoherent and poorly coordinated speech at such a crucial stage of his re-election bid.
“What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” Oseni asked.
He further faulted Tinubu’s comments regarding the removal of the petrol subsidy, as well as his attempt to attribute the poverty and hunger experienced by Nigerians to the opposition.
Oseni maintained that the president’s address lacked proper organisation, clarity and a defined ideological direction, arguing that it did not adequately defend the policies of his administration.
“You just allow a man like that to ad lib at his inaugural campaign speech after four years in office, where he needs to make a great defence, what did you guys do to him?” he said.
The Arise Television presenter insisted that Tinubu’s campaign team had let him down by allowing him to speak at the rally without sufficient preparation.
“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” Oseni added.
ZINGTIE reports that the APC has begun its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Tinubu seeking re-election for a second term.
