ADC unveiling: Coalition announces new venue hours after hotel cancelled booking

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), which leads the opposition coalition, has revealed a new location for the formal launch of its political platform.

Hours after the hotel management abruptly canceled the event that was originally scheduled to hold the unveiling ceremony, ADC’s Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, revealed the new location.

The Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja, was the original location for the event.

However, only hours before the program was scheduled to start, the hotel’s administration abruptly canceled the fully paid reservation citing an unspecified “internal compliance matter.”

“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause,” the hotel said in a statement shared by media personality and politician Dele Momodu.

Opposition leaders were outraged by the cancellation, and some accused the APC-led government of meddling in politics.

The coalition stated in a statement issued by Ukandu that the unveiling would now happen by 2:00 pm on Wednesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

“Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend.

“Please note that attendance is self-sponsored,” the statement read.

According to ZINGTIE, in preparation for the 2027 election, the opposition coalition is positioning the ADC as its adopted platform.
