Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has reached out with words of comfort to Morocco’s Brahim Diaz.
This follows Diaz’s missed penalty for Morocco against Senegal in the AFCON final on Sunday.
Iwobi noted that the Real Madrid winger could have been celebrated as a national hero if he had scored his penalty against the Teranga Lions.
In the AFCON Diaries series, the player from Fulham stated, “A shoutout to Brahim Diaz. He will be going through a lot.
“I mean, to take the penalty the way he did, if he scored, he would have been a hero; it is just the fact that he did not.
“Please, it is football, allow him, but my message to Diaz is what is done is done. He had a good tournament. Do your thing in your club.”
It is worth mentioning that Diaz clinched the AFCON Golden Boot as the tournament’s highest scorer.
