Sunday Oliseh, the former captain of the Super Eagles, has identified Calvin Bassey as the Nigerian player who has most impressed him during the current AFCON competition in Morocco.

Speaking on the Global Football Insights podcast, Oliseh insisted that the Fulham player has significantly raised his game and called him a rock.

“The player nobody is talking about that is impressing me most is Calvin Bassey,” Oliseh said.

“My God, this boy has totally grown, confidence. He’s a rock. If you throw anything at him, he will handle it well.

“He is well complemented with Ajayi at the back.”When the Super Eagles play Morocco in the AFCON semifinal on Wednesday, Bassey will be looking to guide them to victory.

So far in the campaign, the 26-year-old has been outstanding for Eric Chelle’s team, creating a strong relationship with Semi Ajayi in the center of the Nigerian defense.
