AFCON: Obi Mikel predicts two countries to play final

According to former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea player John Obi Mikel, the two countries will square off in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.

Mikel predicted that Nigeria and the Ivory Coast would face off in the championship match.

To secure their spots in the tournament’s last four, Ivory Coast defeated Mali 2-1, while the Super Eagles defeated Angola.

On Wednesday night, Ivory Coast will play the Democratic Republic of the Congo, while Nigeria will play South Africa in the first semifinal.

According to Mikel’s prediction, the two teams would play one another in the group stage before playing again during the tournament.

The Elephants were defeated by Jose Peseiro’s team by a single goal.

When asked if the final match would pit Nigeria vs Ivory Coast, Obi responded, “I think so. I was thinking about it the other day, and I was thinking that we managed to beat them in the group stage, and they were on the verge of leaving the tournament, and all of a sudden, you know, they are back in it, and now.

“They have got a wind with them and now are playing prettily okay but not so well, but they have started to win games and now if they can manage to get to the final, who knows?”
