The Lagos State House of Assembly has resumed plenary session, over a month after Mudashiru Obasa was dismissed as Speaker.
The embattled former speaker, who was impeached on charges of alleged financial impropriety and abuse of office, did not attend the plenary.
However, approximately 36 lawmakers were present.
Abiodun Tobun, a member of Epe Constituency I, praised the Federal Government’s economic policies, claiming that insecurity in Lagos has been reduced to an absolute minimum.
Tobun also proposed a motion requesting that the House write a letter of commendation to the presidency for all of the beneficial initiatives introduced by the Federal Government.
Gbolahan Yishawu, the congressman representing Eti-Osa constituency II, also reeled out several initiatives introduced by the Federal Government, alongside other lawmakers.
Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the House, participated in thanking President Bola Tinubu and expressed trust in his leadership.
According to her, the President has granted credit access for small enterprises, and the stock market’s capitalisation is increasing. She stated that these were indicators that Nigeria was on the right track.
She highlighted that President Tinubu is also making major expenditures in security to protect Nigerians’ safety, and she complimented First Lady Remi Tinubu for her commitment to national development.
Meanwhile, the leadership crisis that was rocking the Assembly appears to have been resolved or put to rest because the former speaker’s complaints were not raised on the House floor.
