In Ogun State, a mother of two named Blessing Eze (Mrs.) was fatally stabbed.

The event happened yesterday, June 6, 2025, when some touts started taxing businessmen over the Muslim faithful’s Eid Mubarak festival. Each trader was requested to pay ₦1,500.

When they got to the late Mrs. Eze, she told them that she didn’t have any money when they arrived and that they should return. Since they were thugs, they began damaging her belongings, so she dragged one of them and asked him to properly range them and return. She didn’t have any money at the time because she hadn’t sold anything.

She died as a result of one of them stabbing her in the chest in this manner.

As a show of unity and grief, the Igbo Market Union at Ifo market closed its shops. claiming that the bunch of touts had been attacking and intimidating them prior to this woman’s death.

They have proclaimed four days of mourning, during which Igbo traders will not exhibit their wares in protest until the State Government and other pertinent authorities take action.

According to one of the market participants we spoke with, his wife was attacked by the son of Baba Loja (the market boss), Waheed, last year, and he called the Nigerian police.

Given that the aforementioned boy is extremely powerful and dangerous, he was counseled to abandon the case for his own life.

We beg Ogun State’s State Government to step in and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Festival funding ought to have been given freely; it shouldn’t have been forced.
