The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has disclosed what caused Abubakar Yakubu, the country’s recently elected president, to be involved in a car accident.
This was announced on Thursday by AGN in a statement released by its outgoing president, Emeka Rollas.
“Yakubu cooperated fully with law enforcement and emergency responders as a law-abiding citizen,” Rollas said in response to the incident’s widely shared news.
He went on to say that “unexpected mechanical brake failure, claiming the life of a child and injuring the child’s mother, who is currently receiving medical care” was the reason of the deadly collision.
According to sources, Abubakar Yakubu was detained in Lagos on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, following his involvement in a fatal accident in Surulere.
