On Saturday, there were tears when the body of Lady Caroline Aguiyi-Ironsi, who was the daughter of General Thomas Umunnankwe Aguiyi-Ironsi, the former Head of State of Nigeria, was buried in Umuana village, Ndume Ibeku, in the Umuahia North local government area of Abia State.
The community loved Lady Caroline, who passed away at 68, for her selflessness and support of regular people.
The late Lady Caroline Aguiyi-Ironsi was characterised by Abia State Governor Alex Otti’s remarks at the ceremony as a woman of substance with a pure and natural heart of gold.
Ikechuckwu Emetu, Otti’s deputy, made the statement that Caroline was a compassionate person who significantly impacted many people’s lives via her warmth, generosity, and compassion.
In honour of the love and kindness left by the departed, he urged the family to continue being strong and focus on life’s bright side.
On behalf of the family, Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi, a former minister of defence and the son of the late General Aguiyi-Ironsi, spoke. He prayed for God’s wisdom and good health to continue his ongoing programmes in the state. He thanked Governor Otti for connecting with the family during the difficult time.
