Rev. Isa El-Buba has stated that Nigeria’s insecurity situation is based on a pattern he personally knew before becoming a Christian, according to a Punch article.

According to the well-known church founder, who is of Fulani ethnicity, what started out slowly eventually grew into widespread attacks in several states, making many people live in constant fear.

He cautioned that while the attacks were first seen as individual incidents, they eventually developed into a concerted pattern that affected both Muslims and Christians.

He claims that Christian-dominated villages were the initial targets of the attacks, and that some Fulani Islamic clerics purportedly applauded the killings in their early stages.

In his words, “Initially, it was a targeted attack on Christian communities, and some Fulani Islamic clerics were even proud of it, saying it served them well.”

“But now, it’s hitting everyone, and it’s largely concentrated in the Middle Belt region,” he continued, adding that the same violence had spread beyond its initial targets.

Then, in a shocking personal admission, he stated, “I know their plan because I was part of it before I converted to Christianity.” He added that he had previously voiced these concerns, especially under the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He claims that rather than appearing out of nowhere, the current security issues were politically whittled down, disregarded, or ignored.

El-Buba stated that truth-based intervention supported by genuine leadership is what Nigeria needs, not silence, appeasement, or a weak response. He maintained that when financial interests took precedence over public safety and when whistleblowers were ignored, insecurity got worse.

The reverend gentleman advised political authorities to embrace the assistance of international military partners driven by intelligence and to let service chiefs operate without interference.

He also called for an end to protecting violent masterminds, more robust community protection, and open religious discourse. He came to the conclusion that courage, justice, and unity—rather than denial—will bring about peace.
