Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, following a court directive.
Achimugu, flanked by two female EFCC personnel, was escorted into the courtroom around 11:35 a.m.
According to NAN, Justice Inyang Ekwo had issued an order on Monday directing the entrepreneur—who was reportedly out of the country to respond to the EFCC’s summons by appearing at their office on Tuesday at noon.
In a brief ruling, Justice Ekwo also instructed the EFCC to bring Achimugu back to court the following day, once she had complied with their request.
However, reports indicated that Achimugu was apprehended by EFCC officers upon her return to Nigeria early in the morning around 5 a.m., after which she was held in custody.
While in detention, she reportedly began a “hunger strike” in protest of her arrest by the commission’s agents.
