According to Michelle Obama, she was always happy to be a mother of two, but her husband Barack desired a third child.
Michelle has recently said that although her husband wanted to expand their family, she wasn’t really fond of the idea. The couple will commemorate their 33rd wedding anniversary this October and have two daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23.
Michelle, 61, stated of her two daughters during an appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast this week: “I was like, “I think I’ve been lucky with these two.”
“We should have a third,” Barack said, and I was like, “Dude!” she recalled, before acknowledging that she had thought at the time, “We’re going to get a crazy one.”
The ex-First Lady also talked candidly about the anxieties she had in her early years of motherhood.
“You love these babies so much,” she told Kylie, who is expecting her fourth child with husband Jason Kelce, “I think the sadness or the postpartum that I felt with my kids really came from.”
“Oh my god, all you have is me,” you think as soon as you connect. I’m so sorry for you. You should have a parent, I wish. Michelle acknowledged.
Additionally, the two women discussed the fact that both of their spouses are female fathers.
“That’s because your husband deserved that,” Michelle informed Kylie before to her disclosure: I said that to Barack: “Dude, you need a bunch of women in your life to smack you around.”
Michelle also disclosed that she would never run for president or return to politics because she would not want her kids to be in the spotlight once more.
When Barack took office as the 44th President of the United States in January 2009, the girls were seven and nine years old.
Regarding her job decisions since they left the White House in January 2017, she stated, “I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them.”
“And so when people ask me would I ever run, the answer is no. If you ask me that, then you have absolutely no idea the sacrifice that your kids make when your parents are in that role.”
“The thought of, like, putting my girls back into that spotlight when they are just now establishing themselves.”
“I think we’ve done enough … they’ve already served their time,” she said of Malia and Sasha.
