New Real Madrid signing, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has expressed skepticism about his chances of ever winning the Ballon d’Or, following his move to the Spanish giants.
During his official unveiling on Thursday, the England international admitted that competing for the prestigious individual award would be extremely difficult given the number of world-class talents already in the Real Madrid squad.
“It will be very hard to win the Ballon d’Or with the players on this team (laughs).
“I’m just happy I will play with them and not against them,” Alexander-Arnold said.
Alexander-Arnold made the switch to Real Madrid from Premier League title holders Liverpool after opting not to extend his contract with the English club.
At Madrid, he will wear the number 12 shirt, previously donned by club legend Marcelo.
The 26-year-old has also been named in manager Xabi Alonso’s squad for the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
