Transfer: Al-Hilal president, Bin Nafal reveals why they failed to sign Osimhen

Al-Hilal president, Fahad Bin Nafal, has explained why the club has struggled to secure the signings of Victor Osimhen and other top targets during the current transfer window.

According to Bin Nafal, the main challenges have been “unreasonable” counter offers from clubs and general fatigue from prolonged negotiations.

The Saudi Pro League club recently appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach, shortly after his team, Inter Milan, lost the UEFA Champions League final.

Despite putting forward lucrative financial deals, Al-Hilal has not succeeded in landing Osimhen, AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, or Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

The club also made a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, currently with rival side Al-Nassr, but failed to convince him to switch teams—even with the appeal of competing in the Club World Cup.

“We’ve spoken with many players, but they want to go on vacation after a long season,” Bin Nafal said.

“We tried to sign several players before the World Cup, but were unsuccessful due to lack of time and faced illogical offers.”
