The commendations came during a courtesy visit to BAT’s factory in Ibadan by the President of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (MAN), Otunba Francis Meshioye, and the Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir. Meshioye praised BAT for its commitment to safety, quality, and innovation, saying, “From the moment we arrived, BAT’s dedication to safety, quality, and innovation was evident. The company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) induction process reflects its strong commitment to workplace safety and employee welfare.”

Meshioye also encouraged BAT to intensify it’s transition to reduced-risk products, stating that “MAN remains committed to supporting BAT’s initiatives and recognises its leadership in the sector.” Echoing Meshioye’s sentiments, Ajayi-Kadir commended BAT for its resilience and commitment to the Nigerian manufacturing landscape, particularly amid regulatory challenges.

BAT’s Operations Director, Hasnain Ishtiaq, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainability, safety, and innovation, saying, “At BAT, we are dedicated to building A Better Tomorrow by prioritising employee safety, minimising our environmental impact, and embracing sustainable practices

The company’s long-standing legacy in Nigeria is notable, with a presence dating back to 1912 and the Ibadan facility commissioned in 2003. Ishtiaq highlighted the factory’s economic contributions, stating, “With N500 billion in tax remittances (2018–2024), we have created over 350,000 jobs and strengthened Nigeria’s economy. The Ibadan factory, with 16 production lines, generates up to $110 million in foreign exchange annually.
