President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the Arewa Consultative Movement (ACM) to suspend Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister.
Comrade Bilal Galadima, the ACM National Coordinator, made the call on Wednesday in Kaduna.
If President Bola Tinubu does not suspend Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Arewa group has vowed to organise like-minded individuals and groups to shut down Kaduna and Abuja.
According to the national coordinator of the Arewa Consultative Movement, Tunji-Ojo ought to be suspended for “abuse of office” in accordance with established guidelines.
Galadima claimed this in an open letter to President Tinubu in response to the contract given to New Planet Project Limited, a business in which Tunji-Ojo was purportedly involved.
Over fifty groups have expressed interest in participating in the planned mass protests for Kaduna and Abuja on Friday and Monday, according to Galadima.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, led by Dr. Betta Edu, paid the company N438.1 million for consulting services. He clarified that a portion of the N3 billion was allocated for social investment initiatives and cash transfers to Nigerians in need.
“It is worth noting that the company, which was registered on March 3, 2009, with registration number 804833, has Minister Tunji Ojo and his wife, Abimbola, listed as directors, with Gbadamasi Gbadamasi Clement as the company’s secretary. “
We firmly feel that Minister Tunji Ojo’s actions directly contradict the Code of Conduct law and the Nigerian Constitution. Public officials are prohibited from participating in any business other than farming or having conflicts of interest by Sections 5 and 6 of the Code of Conduct statute.
Details surface: Tinubu was demanded to suspend Minister Tunji-Ojo immediately. Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo is called by Tinubu. A financial scandal shaking the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs was why Tinubu summoned Tunji-Ojo to the Presidential Villa, according to earlier reports from several media outlets. Tunji-Ojo was called in after New Planet Projects Ltd., a business of which he is a beneficial owner, was given an N438 million consulting contract. The Interior Minister of Tinubu Talks About Receiving a Contract from Betta Edu
Additionally, it was claimed that Tunji-Ojo addressed the claim made by Betta Edu, the suspended minister, that his business, New Planet Project Limited, was given an N438.1 million contract.
The minister added that he started the business roughly 15 years ago, but upon his election in 2019, he left his position as director. During the presentation, the minister revealed a document from the CAC that stated he resigned from his position as a director of New Planet Project Limited five years ago.
