The Department of State Services, or DSS, has prevented Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team from reaching him.
Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s primary attorney, revealed that the DSS might have cancelled the legal team’s scheduled visits going forward.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Ejimakor stated that Kanu’s complete seclusion means he might not ever see light of day.
According to Ejimakor, Kanu’s activities during his most recent proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja were the reason behind the DSS’s action.
The pro-Biafra activist sparked controversy a few days ago when he said he didn’t trust Justice Binta Nyako enough to ask her to step down from her current case.
In spite of opposition from Federal Government attorneys, Justice Nyako resigned from the case.
Ejimakor said: “Today, in violation of subsisting court orders and the Constitution, the DSS blocked the legal team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from meeting with him at the detention facility.
“It appears that the DSS has cancelled all future visitations to #MNK as a retaliation against #MNK “for chasing away Justice Binta Nyako from the case and causing her embarrassment.”
“What this means is that the DSS, acting on behalf of the federal government of Nigeria, has unlawfully isolated #MNK from his lawyers, thus making his solitary confinement absolute. I don’t know when next, if ever, it may be possible to see #MNK again.”
