Prince Emmanuel, the brother of Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu, accused the Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday of refusing to provide an order that would have allowed the administration of Sokoto Prison to bring Kanu to Abuja for a planned settlement of records for his appeal.
The process for submitting an appeal to the Court of Appeal includes settling records at the Federal High Court registry.
In an interview with ZINGTIE on Thursday morning, Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, gave documents of the summons that the Abuja Federal High Court registrar had issued, instructing the IPOB leader to show up for the settlement of the appeal records on November 28, 2025.
Prince Emmanuel sent ZINGTIE a note that said, “This is a summons to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to appear on November 28 at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the settlement of records regarding the appeal he filed prior to the November 20 judgment.
“A production warrant is required for the Sokoto Prison to transport him to Abuja, but the Court declined to issue it.”
The summons, dated November 11, 2025, and signed by Ojonugwa Thomas, Principal Registrar 1, read, “Summons to parties by Registrar to settle records (In compliance with Order 8 Rule 2 of the Court of Appeal Rules, 2021).
“Take notice that all parties concerned are required to appear before me at the Appeal Section of the Federal High Court Headquarters, Plot 1048 (710), Cadastral Zone A100, Off Shehu Shagari Way, Central Business District, Abuja, on 28th day of November, 2025, at the hour of 11:00 am, to proceed with settlement of record of appeal therein.”
Nnamdi Kanu, the appellant, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the respondent, are involved in the appeal in charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2025.
According to the ZINGTIE, Kanu was found guilty of terrorism on November 20, 2025, and given a life sentence by an Abuja Federal High Court led by Justice James Omotosho.
He is presently incarcerated at Sokoto Prison for the duration of his sentence.
