BREAKING: Finidi George resigns as Super Eagles head coach

The Super Eagles’ head coach, Finidi George, has announced his resignation.

Days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to bring in a foreign technical adviser, Finidi is said to have made the choice on Saturday.

Toyin Ibitoye, the former Eagles communications officer, verified his departure on his X account.

Ibitoye wrote: “News just in: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position.”

Only on April 29, 2024, Finidi was appointed to succeed Jose Peseiro, whose contract had expired in February.

In his brief tenure, the former Enyimba manager managed two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series: a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic and a 1-1 tie with South Africa.
