Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has announced the Accord Party as his new political platform in advance of the 2026 election.

In front of state and national party leaders, the governor made the news on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo.

After weeks of discussions with stakeholders and opinion leaders in the state, Adeleke disclosed that he formally joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025.

According to a statement released by his spokeswoman, Olawale Rasheed, the governor stated that Osun stakeholders already knew the rationale for the political realignment.

Adeleke stated that the party’s ideological congruence with his administration’s dedication to welfarism was the driving force behind his choice.

“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare,” he said.

As the 2026 governorship contest gets closer, the governor welcomed party leaders to the Government House and stressed the importance of unity.

“We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of inclusive leadership that takes into account the interests of all groups and urged members to stay united and work together to win.

Speaking about his experience since joining the Accord Party, Adeleke claimed that the party’s ideology has inspired him.

“The focus on people’s welfare should always be at the heart of public leadership. The primary essence of government is the welfare and well-being of the people,” he noted.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ quality of life through citizen welfare-focused policies and initiatives.

Additionally, he introduced the Accord Party as the state’s new political vehicle and urged citizens of Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central to support the platform.

“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede and beyond, this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year,” he declared.

“In accordance with the will of our stakeholders and in deep respect for the wishes of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party,” he announced.
