Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy has addressed the criticism that followed his plan to host a free concert in Burkina Faso.

The reaction came in the wake of online mockery, with some suggesting that the country’s president had turned down his proposal.

Responding through an Instagram Story, the Grammy-winning musician stood by his intentions and took aim at those casting doubt on his motives.

He explained that his decisions are driven by values, not by self-interest.

Burna Boy also expressed disappointment over the unexpectedly harsh and offensive remarks from certain individuals.

“I have nothing to gain from anybody. I don’t owe anyone anything, but that never stopped me from doing the great work I do. My integrity is unquestionable. Therefore burn in hell if you said anything negative,” Burna Boy wrote.
