Nigerian full-back, Felix Agu, has lauded his Super Eagles teammate, Victor Boniface, as the striker begins his recovery from injury, emphasizing the player’s undeniable talent despite a lengthy absence from competitive football.

Boniface has had a challenging 2025–26 season following a severe knee injury that required surgery in January.

This setback threatened to sideline him for the rest of the season, leaving Bremen and their supporters uncertain about his return.

After several months away from the field, Boniface has recently resumed training, with the club carefully managing his reintegration to prevent any recurrence of the injury.

Agu, who has been a consistent performer for Bremen this season, expressed his delight at seeing Boniface back with the first-team squad.

“I’m very happy to see him back here because I get along well with him,” Agu told Deichstube.

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Agu noted that Boniface would need time to regain his peak form. “I think he still needs a little time to get back into his rhythm,” he explained.

Despite these hurdles, Agu remained confident in the striker’s inherent quality. “But we all know his quality,” he insisted.

“He may have only shown glimpses of it in matches, but you see it repeatedly in training. When he drops deep, turns, and plays passes – with such timing, such vision! That’s simply an absolute quality!”

Agu also reflected on Boniface’s previous success, recalling his contributions to Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning squad before his loan move. “He wasn’t a key player in Leverkusen’s championship-winning team for nothing,” he pointed out.

Looking ahead, Agu expressed cautious optimism about Boniface’s potential impact this season.

“If Victor can even come close to that level, then he can help us,” he said, while acknowledging that the full extent of Boniface’s contribution this season remains uncertain.

“The important thing is that he returns to the fitness level necessary to assist us on the field,” Agu concluded.
