CEAN: Nigerian Cinema Ticket Sales Hit N11.5bn Mark in 2024.

The Nigerian film industry experienced significant growth in 2024, with a 60% increase in box office revenue, according to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).

CEAN’s National Chairman, Mr. Ope Ajayi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. He revealed that ticket sales across Nigerian cinemas generated N11.5 billion in 2024, up from N7.2 billion in 2023.

Ajayi noted that cinemas in Nigeria accommodated at least 2.66 million people in 2024, compared to 2.54 million in 2023. He described the 60% revenue growth and 4.5% growth in admissions as remarkable, particularly given the challenging economic climate.

“We have recorded 60 percent growth in revenue in 2024 and about 4.5 percent growth in admissions despite the harsh economic climate. This is a remarkable achievement, and it is a testament to the industry’s resilience, creativity, and determination.

“This achievement is a testament to the industry’s resilience, creativity, and determination.”

“It’s also the first time we’ve seen growth in admissions since 2020, signaling a significant upturn in the cinema subsector.” He said.
